NYU Langone Health Coordinating Center

Principal Investigator

Jasmin Divers, PhD

Dr. Divers is Chief of the Division of Health Services Research and Director of the Center for Population and Health Services Research at NYU Long Island School of Medicine. Dr. Divers is a biostatistician with a broad research portfolio that includes projects in diabetes surveillance in kids and young adults, diabetes-related complications, aging, chronic and end-stage kidney disease, and kidney transplant outcomes. Dr. Divers’ s work focuses on the application of sound statistical and data science principles to these clinical research areas. Dr. Divers has served as PI or MPI on multiple NIH grants and Cooperative Agreements, including the Assessing the Burden of Diabetes by Type in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults (DiCAYA) Network. Dr. Divers was a member of the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Study (SEARCH) Coordinating Center, where he worked primarily on the SEARCH registry, focusing on methods for estimating incidence and prevalence, evaluating trends over time, and determining completeness of ascertainment. Dr. Thorpe and I have led the DiCAYA Coordinating Center (CoC) for the last 5 years. We are running the CASSIDY CoC now.

Principal Investigator

Lorna Thorpe, PhD

Lorna Thorpe, PhD is Anita Steckler and Bob Steckler Professor and Chair of the Department of Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Reflecting her career trajectory working in both public health practice and academic settings, Dr. Thorpe’s research focuses on the intersection between epidemiology and policy, and the impacts of policy and social conditions on health and health inequities.

Dr. Thorpe currently leads several NIH and CDC-funded centers and research initiatives, including studies on the influence of municipal policies and neighborhood determinants of health on chronic disease incidence and progression, and the use of data from electronic health record networks to improve population health surveillance. She currently co-leads two centers focused on the translation research into policy and practice, funded by the CDC and NIEHS. She is also co-PI of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded City Health Dashboard and Congressional District Health Dashboards. She has been an active mentor for many graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty.
