About Our Center
The Geisinger and University of Pittsburgh research teams have a long history of conducting electronic health record-based research and are deeply embedded within their respective health systems. Geisinger is an integrated health system that primarily serves Pennsylvania. Geisinger includes a network of primary and specialty clinic sites including more than 40 community-based primary care clinics and 10 hospital campuses. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is an academic health care system that includes 40 tertiary care, specialty, and community hospitals; as well as specialized outpatient facilities, long-term care facilities, and physician offices. Both Geisinger and UPMC provide a mix of primary and specialty care that captures patients with a full spectrum of disease. Together, these health systems serve patients in all but four of 67 counties in Pennsylvania.
